Jackson ushered in a new era in American politics and, according to many, laid the groundwork for such impressive and historic victories as the elections of Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder and New York Mayor David N. Dinkins, not to mention the selection of Ron Brown as the first Black chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
