1970-1980: African American Mayors
The number of African-American mayors has risen from just 3 to 480. And during the past three decades, these men and women have proven that they can successfully, and effectively, run cities of all sizes--whether they have large black populations (such as Washington, D.C., with a 80% Black population) or not (such as Denver, with a Black population of just under 13%).
